Ethics to Check Malpractices and Plagiarism in Research
Ø
The institution is committed to producing and
promoting research and scholarship of the highest order, unadulterated with
plagiarism and other unethical practices, all this, while endeavouring to
maintain academic freedom and innovation. The college invites its teachers and
students to abide by the highest standards of integrity in their conduct of
academic research and/or support to academic research activities, which include
the following:
Ø
The Institution is keen to embed and endorse the
culture of honesty and transparency in all its academic research activities.
Ø
No form of plagiarism is allowed in the college
such as Copying of project, dissertations, assignments etc.
Ø
The author should check the article, project
report for both manual and technical plagiarism check using open-source
software.
Ø
Paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s work
should be acknowledged properly.
Ø
Levels of plagiarism are allowed as per UGC
norms.
Ø
In the event of the teachers/students
attending/participating in any conference, permission must be sought from the
Principal, highlighting the purpose of the visit.
Ø
Students or faculty members while going for data
collection to other institutes must carry College Letter and their College
I-Cards. They need to maintain a record of the institutes visited, persons
interviewed/met for research data collection etc.
Ø
Many of our faculty members serve as reviewers
on editorial boards of many prestigious journals, and adhere to the strictest
standards to ensure good quality publications
Ø
Our college also organizes conferences and
seminars on pressing issues calling for academic inquiry, and while selecting
papers for the same, places strong emphasis on the standard of research,
original thought and expression.
Ø
We also keep our teachers and students informed
of appropriate guidelines for publication in various journals, including those
recognized by the UGC.
Ø
The college emphasis on research publication in
reputed journals, conferences.
Ø
Each author of any publication shall respect
Intellectual Property Rights and Copyright Law.
Ø
In case of any plagiarism detected, Research
Committee will submit the report after thorough investigation and recommend for
necessary disciplinary action.
Ø Disciplinary action could be a Fine or Warning or withdraw of manuscripts or thesis.
Code of Professional Ethics for Teachers
A teacher is constantly under the scrutiny of his students and the society at large. Therefore, every teacher should see that there is no incompatibility between his precepts and practice. The profession further requires that the teachers should be calm, patient and communicative by temperament and amiable in disposition.
Teachers should:
Ø
Encourage students to improve their attainments,
develop their personalities and at the same time contribute to community
welfare.
Ø
Deal justly and impartially with students
regardless of their religion, caste, political, economic, social and physical
characteristics.
Ø
Recognize the difference in aptitude and
capabilities among students and strive to meet their individual needs.
Ø
Be affectionate to the students and not behave
in a vindictive manner towards any of them for any reason.
Ø
Make themselves available to the students even
beyond their class hours and help and guide student without any remuneration or
reward.
Ø
Treat other members of the profession in the
same manner as they themselves wish to be treated.
Ø
Refrain from allowing considerations of caste,
creed religion, race or sex in their professional endeavour.
Ø
Refrain from undertaking any other employment
including private tuitions and coaching classes which are likely to interfere
with their professional responsibilities.
Ø
Co- operate in the formulation of policies of
the institution by accepting various offices and discharge responsibilities
which such offices may demand.
Ø
Seek to make professional growth continuous
through study and research.
Ø
Express free and frank opinion by participation
at professional meetings, seminars, conferences etc. towards the contribution
of knowledge.
Ø
Maintain active membership of professional
organizations and strive to improve education and profession through them.
Ø
Perform their duties in the form of teaching,
tutorial, practical, seminar and research work conscientiously and with
dedication.
Ø
Work to improve education in the community and
strengthen the community's moral and intellectual life.
Ø
Be aware of social problems and take part in
such activities as would be conducive to the progress of society and hence the
country as a whole.
Ø
Teachers should maintain decorum both inside and
outside the classroom and set a good example to the students.
Ø
Teachers should carry out other academic,
co-curricular and organizational activities that may be assigned to them from
time to time.
Ø
Treat other members of the profession in the
same manner as they themselves wish to be treated.
Ø
Speak respectfully of other teachers and render
assistance for professional betterment.
Ø
Teachers should treat the non- teaching staff as
colleagues and equal partners in a cooperative manner.
